In this world where evil lurks inside the hearts of men
And bad is the new good. I remember when
The lives of saints and angels held the greatest of appeal
For youth to model and to follow and to love
Now the rock star and the Gangsta, the dictator and tyrant King
The mob boss and the bankster have become the only thing.
We no longer keep a record of the saints that walk with us
Their names are never mentioned and the records are all lost
The best that we can be, we no longer see
Contempt replacing reverence, cursing for a prayer.
